The current Miss World is Suchata Chuangsri from Thailand, who was crowned on 31 May 2025 during the 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant held in Hyderabad, India
Born on 20 September 2003 in Phuket, Thailand, Suchata, affectionately known as “Opal” is a 21-year-old model and student of Political Science with a specialization in International Relations at Thammasat University. She is multilingual, fluent in Thai, English, and Chinese.
Opal’s victory is historic, marking the first time a Thai contestant has won the Miss World title. Her win is attributed not only to her poise and intelligence but also to her impactful social project, “OpalForHer”, which focuses on breast cancer awareness. This initiative is deeply personal, inspired by her own experience overcoming a tumor at the age of 16.
The 2025 Miss World Pageant
The event featured 108 contestants from around the globe and was co-hosted by former Miss World 2016, Stephanie Del Valle, and Indian presenter Sachiin Kumbhar. The outgoing titleholder, Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic, crowned Opal at the conclusion of the ceremony.
The runners-up were:
- First Runner-Up: Hasset Dereje Admassu (Ethiopia)
- Second Runner-Up: Maja Klajda (Poland)
- Third Runner-Up: Aurélie Joachim (Martinique)
A Journey Marked by Resilience
Prior to her Miss World triumph, Opal competed in Miss Universe Thailand 2024, where she secured the third-place position. Her decision to participate in Miss World 2025 led to some controversy, as it was seen as a breach of contract with the Miss Universe organization, resulting in her disqualification from the latter.
Despite these challenges, Opal’s dedication to her advocacy and her ability to connect with audiences worldwide have solidified her status as a role model. Her reign as Miss World 2025 is expected to inspire many, particularly in Southeast Asia, where her victory is seen as a significant achievement.
