According to data from DownDetector, the disruption started gaining traction around 5:13 PM IST, with over 460+ reports flooding in. A staggering 80% of users flagged issues with messaging, 15% faced trouble with the app itself, and a smaller chunk (around 4%) struggled with login problems.
Many users turned to X (formerly Twitter) to share their frustrations and find out if it was a widespread issue. One post read, “Is WhatsApp down? I’ve been trying to upload my status for the last 15 minutes!” Others wondered if a recent update might be behind the glitch.
While WhatsApp hasn’t released an official statement yet, some users also noticed hiccups on other Meta-owned platforms like Instagram and Facebook—hinting at a broader tech hiccup behind the scenes.
